BBQ'd Shrimp....True Carolina Style!!! Washington NC.

After our time in Kitty Hawk we were forced inland due to road closures along the Outer Banks.  The road closures were due to hurricane Irene taking out a couple bridges between the islands.
We hit the road early and started the drive.

We found a little seafood market on a small bay and bought a pound of fresh shrimp....dinner taken care of. We drove by tobacco field, after tobacco field, after tobacco field and arrived in Washington N.C. Smokes are $3.25 a pack here, can't complain!
Our campground was located on a nice river and was very well manicured.  We had a fire pit and finally got to use all the wood we had been lugging around since Ocean City.

Of course being in NC and having a grill over our fire pit, we had to cook the shrimp over open fire.
We mixed shrimp, peppers, tomatoes, beer and some dried spices in foil.

We also made two shrimp skewers  with old bay

This turned out to be the best meal we have had all trip. The two of us sitting in the grass, with Shred, eating sweet amazing shrimp cooked over an open flame while watching the sunset. Perfect!!!

To top it all off ,we made some dirty delicious smores for desert!!!

Our one night stay in Washington was amazing, but we couldn't help but anticipate our adventure in the morning to Myrtle Beach for some sun and seafood!!
