Sandsbridge, Virginia Beach

Our drive to Virginia Beach was something else. We decided to take the chesapeake bridge/tunnel to shave 85 miles off our drive. For anyone who is not familiar with this route, the bridge is around 20 miles and includes two underwater tunnels. Tiff hates driving through tunnels, by hates I mean she was almost in tears, but she got through it. Virginia beach is unlike Wildwood and Ocean City in that their "boardwalk is paved and most of the hotels are beachfront. The usual gypsy souvenier shops are located a block away from the board on Atlantic Avenue.
No Cursing signs....I guess we shouldn't bother opening our mouths!

Our campground is on an area of Virginia Beach called Sandsbrigde. Sandbridge is an awesome surfing town occupied by VB locals. We happened to stumble upon a "bar" next door to our campground called Baja. Baja turned out to  be an amazing restaurant, definatley the best meal we had since leaving Toronto (besides Beach Creek of course).Besides their great grub, Baja is known in the community for the charity events they hold through the summer.
We started our meal the some hushpuppies, which are besically deep fried balls of corn bread dough served with butter-BANGIN!
We also shared "South of the border" oysters, which were baked in worchestershire and tobasco and topped with cheddar and bacon....enough said. The fried calamri was breaded in house with hints of cayenne and garlic-crispy and delicious! The show stopper was their "She crab soup". Creamy, thick, and seasoned to perfection, this bisque was loaded with crab claw meat and finished with old bay seasoning. For desert we shared a salad cause who knows when we last ate vegetables.

Our sever was great. She recommended us to another "locals only" restaurant and sent us home with complimentary, more traditional desert, housemade snickers pie.
We spent our final day in Sandsbridge beach fishing off our dock and exploring this private area. We hope the "shoobies" never make it to Sandsbridge.
